Performance characteristics:
O1 is a high carbon tool steel with good machinability, maintaining good dimensional stability during hardening, good cutting edge retention, and achieving a good balance between surface hardness and toughness after hardening and tempering. Its elastic modulus is 214 GPa, tensile strength is about 111.6 KSI (about 770 MPa), and yield strength is 56.6-74 KSI (390-510 MPa). However, O1 tool steel is prone to rusting and is sensitive to decarburization.
Chemical composition:
The carbon content is generally between 0.85% and 1.00%, and it also contains a certain amount of elements such as tungsten, chromium, and manganese. The high content of tungsten and chromium makes it have good wear resistance, while the high content of manganese helps to obtain good dimensional stability during quenching.

Common specifications:
Thickness tolerance is usually ± 0.001 inches, width tolerance is+0.005/-0 inches, and length is commonly 18 inches. Common sizes include 3/8 inch x 3/4 inch x 18 inch, 3/8 inch x 1 inch x 18 inch, etc., and can also be customized according to requirements.
Processing method:
It is usually sold in an annealed state for heat treatment, and after heat treatment, the hardness can reach around Rockwell hardness C64. The surface can be polished, with a six sided surface finish of up to 35ra, and there are no defects or decarburization phenomena.

Application areas:
Commonly used in manufacturing punching dies, forming dies, trimming dies, measuring tools, slitting tools, punches, plastic molds, etc. It can also be used to make tools such as cutting tools, taps, punching plates, and some mechanical parts.
